| Description: | Further provided herein are methods of inhibiting HDAC8 mediated deacetylation of p53. In one aspect, the method includes contacting HDAC8 with a HDAC8 inhibitor as described herein, thereby inhibiting HDAC8 mediated deacetylation of p53. The inhibition of HDAC8 may allow for acetylation and activation of p53, thereby mediating cell apoptosis. The contacting may be performed in vitro or in vivo. The contacting may be performed in vitro. The contacting may be performed in vivo. The contacting may be performed in an organism. The inhibition of HDAC8 mediated deacetylation of p53 may be monitored by techniques known in the art, including for example, fluorescent and colorimetric assays. |
